The state of Texas has redesigned the STAAR assessments, therefore the timelines and assessment results will look very different until the state sets the final passing standards.
Marfa ISD will be sending home a letter with your child's preliminary STAAR 3-8 results. The letter will include your child's raw score (# of points correct out of total possible points). It will also include the likelihood of passing, in the form of Likely Did Not Pass, Zone of Uncertainty, and Likely Did Pass.
Once we receive your child's final score results, we will send that information to you as well as how you can access that information online.
For questions, please contact your child's campus principal at (432) 729-5500.

The Shorthorn Legacy award is designated to recognize achievements that promote dedication.Â
Dedication to the program.Â
Commitment without falter.Â
Representing Marfa with honor.
Most importantly- perseverance in the face of adversity.Â
When the going gets tough you FIGHT, you STICK it OUT, you FIND A WAY to persevere and that's what Legacy award winners have demonstrated. Â
In 2018, Marfa had one female athlete at MHS to play every single sport available to her, every year in high school. Cheer, Volleyball, basketball, softball , track, cross country. As the years go by we notice that these commitments are hard to do and is accomplished by very few.Â
This year, Lesly Torres and Aundrea Garcia were recognized for their dedication and commitment to Marfa ISD athletics! Shorthorn Legacy recipients must participate in cross country and track for 4 years, along with 4 years of volleyball / football, basketball, softball / golf.
The Legacy award is in place to recognize those students who are willing to dedicate themselves to representing Marfa in all sports, while maintaining upstanding scholastic standards.

Full of tradition and pride, Marfa Shorthorn athletes receive their letter jackets during our All Sports Banquet last week hosted by the Marfa Shorthorns Athletic Booster Club!
